The Quaker Springs Fire Department's Fire Stations

The Quaker Springs Fire Department's Main Station is located on Blodgett Road, just off State Route 32 in the hamlet of Quaker Springs.  The 3-bay station was built in 1977 to replace the original firehouse that had been built in 1947.  An additional double bay was added in 2000.

In order to provide the best coverage for our district, the Fire Commissioners' long-range plans call for 2 sub-stations in addition to the main firehouse in Quaker Springs - one to provide coverage for the west end of the district and one to provide coverage for the north end of the district.

In line with these plans, on July 17, 2007, the voters of the Quaker Springs Fire District approved the construction of a sub-station on Route 9P at the north end of Saratoga Lake. The vote was 152-17 in favor of construction.  This sub-station will be built on land that was generously donated to the district by Michael Giovanone.  Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2008.

We have also acquired land through a generous donation from Saratoga Builders on NYS Route 29 (across from Farmer's Daughter). We feel this will be an ideal location for sub-station #2.  Our tentative plan is to build at this location after paying off our bond on sub-station #1.  This way we can keep our fire tax rate low, while still planning for the future.

Route 9P Sub-station

In May, 2006 the Quaker Springs Fire Department spent several sessions training on structures at site of the substation.  The last training session at the site was a controlled burn of the existing building to prepare to the site for construction.
