Training

Training for members of QSFD consists of weekly drills and formal classroom

or hands-on training as necessary or as classes are available.

QSFD Weekly Drills

QSFD Firefighters attend training at the firehouse at weekly drills where they work on mastering essential skills and are trained in new skills. Drills consist of classes and practical evolutions which begin every Thursday evening (excluding holidays) at 7:00 pm.

Tanker Shuttle Drill

On Saturday, April 5th, 2008 QSFD hosted a Mutual Aid tanker shuttle drill as part of a live burn on County Route 71. Arvin Hart Fire Department, Stillwater Fire Department, Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, David Nevins Fire Department and Schuyler Hose Company all participated in the drill.

Live Fire Training

On February 16th, 2008 Assistant Chief Mark Connolly and Firefighter Nik Steg completed Live Fire Training 1A and 1B at the Jonesville Fire Department. This training is required by Saratoga County before a department is allowed to use the County training facility. This training is compliant with NFPA 1403.

Eleven Firefighters attend MacBoston 18 Truck training

MacBoston 18 Truck presented a Firefighter Training Seminar on Saturday, February 9th, 2008 at South Glens Falls' Station 2. The first half of the seminar addressed Surviving on the Fire-ground. The second half of the seminar taught Fire Officer Leadership Skills - such as leadership, management and supervision. Eleven firefighters from QSFD attended the training seminar.
